Extrusion Press One
Extrusion Press One was commissioned in 2010 and enabled AMS to advance from a systems supply company into a major manufacturer of aluminium extrusion. Press One applies 1800 metric tonnes of pressure to 178mm diameter billet. Press One has capacity to produce up to 1.2 tonnes of extruded profile per hour, depending on the profile size, from several stocked alloys in the 6000 series.
Extrusion Press Two
Extrusion Press Two, installed in 2019 enabled the company to rapidly expand its production capacity of aluminium extrusion. Press Two applies 2500 metric tonnes of pressure to 203mm diameter billet. Boasting the ability to extrude larger sections with widths of up to 250mm; Press Two can produce up to 2 tonnes of extruded profile per hour, depending on the profile size, from several stocked alloys in the 6000 series.

The fabrication department at AMS offers support to our network of glazing fabrication and installation customers. Through major investment in personnel, machinery and tooling, AMS has become a market leader in the assembly of semi-finished products and aluminium fabrication.
Sheet Metal Fabrication
AMS’ precision sheet metal department has an extensive range of capabilities. Our skilled
sheet metal team use state of the art machinery to manufacture components such
pressings, flashings, head cappings and insulated glazing panels. We also cater to bespoke
requirements.
Anodising Plant
Installed in 2022, AMS’ state of the art anodising plant is fully automated and completes our in-house capabilities. It is the only anodising facility of its kind on the island of Ireland. AMS can offer customers a range of bronze anodised finishes as well as black anodised and sliver/clear anodised in profile lengths of up to 7.3m. Due to the colour occurring within the oxide layer, the colour anodised finish is immune to fading as well as highly resistant to corrosion and abrasion. The thickness of the anodic layer depends on the end use. We offer coating thickness from 5 microns up to 25 microns.
Vertical Paint Line
AMS’ vertical paint line was added in 2008. It offers an incredibly efficient method of applying powder coatings onto mill finish aluminium. It has a 90 percent recovery rate of
powder and the ability to paint over 4000 profiles in an 8-hour shift, which is a huge improvement over the industry standard. The vertical paint line has the facility to paint profiles up to 7.3 m in length and can affect a colour change in just 4 minutes, making it the most efficient method of powder coating aluminium profile systems.
Horizontal Paint Line
The original 78,000 square foot building from which AMS has expanded is home to horizontal paint line. It has the facility of painting aluminium sheets and flashings, as well as section profiles with lengths up to 7.0 m. This service has proven very beneficial to many customers as both profiles and pressings can be painted in the one facility guaranteeing quality and finish every time.
Mill Metal Storage & Thermal Break Processing
The mill metal storage facility consists of stock of our proprietary profiles used in our façade systems. Also housed in this building is our proprietary thermal break processing. AMS took control of thermal break processing in 2002. AMS ‘Thermstrip’ advanced thermal break is a unique and patented system. The use of patented Thermstrip technology with polyurethane resin (TS systems) and polyurethane foam (XT systems) places AMS in the forefront in the supply of energy efficient and sustainable window and door systems.
Decoral
As the only sublimation applicator in Ireland AMS’ Decoral System applies wood like and rust like finishes to aluminium. Sublimation is an excellent coating option for aluminium profiles when visually appealing but lightweight structures are required. Wooden structures are naturally heavy and can warp, split and/or rot over time while aluminium is lightweight and durable.
